MTI is recognized by the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) as an approved ELDT (Entry Level Driver Training) provider. MTI offers two options for truck driver training: 1) CDL Training Course and 2) Professional Truck Driving Program. If you鈥檙e interested in earning your CDL and entering the workforce sooner, the CDL Training Course takes less than 30 days to complete and is designed to prepare you to pass the licensing exam and obtain a Class A CDL in Illinois or CDL in Missouri. START A CAREER IN TRUCK DRIVING

If you鈥檙e interested in a career in truck driving, there are several types of routes you can choose, including local, interstate (across state lines), and intrastate (within a state鈥檚 boundaries). In addition to driving tractor trailers and transporting goods around the country. Truck drivers must also be able to secure cargo, carefully inspect and maintain their rig, and follow all applicable federal and state driving regulations.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), 鈥淎s the demand for goods increases, more truck drivers will be needed to keep supply chains moving.鈥 The BLS predicts about 240,300 openings for heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers are projected each year, on average, over the decade (2023-2033).

There are a variety of commercial vehicles that truck drivers operate, including dry vans, freights, flatbeds, tankers, and more. Each of these truck driving jobs require a Commercial Driver鈥檚 License, or CDL.听

Understanding the difference between Class A and Class B CDL can help you better understand which license you need to become a CDL driver.听

At MTI, you鈥檒l be prepared to earn your CDL A, which allows you to operate any vehicle with a semi-trailer or a trailer with two or more axles. A common Class A vehicle is a tractor trailer, also known as a semi.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers in May 2023 was approximately $54,320. The highest 10% earned more than $76,780.
